Max’s Moon Finished

Tonight I put the final few stitches in Max’s Moon.  This project has been going on for some time, mostly because it was supposed to be my small project for taking away on holiday.  Now we have moved into our new house and have a landlady who allows us to hang things up on the walls it motivated me to get on and finish this so I can hang it up.

It was a nice design to stitch, once I got used to the dark fabric which makes it a little more difficult to see.  The background is left unstitched which makes it much quicker to finish, and although there is a reasonable amount of backstitch I quite enjoyed doing it because it wasn’t just outlining things, it actually formed part of the design.

Hampshire Cross Stitch Group

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.  I’m looking for a cross stitch group in Hampshire, somewhere in the Southampton/Winchester area.  If there aren’t any then i’d like to set one up, but I need at least a couple of people to help me get started.  So if you’re interested in going to a cross stitch group in Southampton or Winchester please let me know.  I know that there are other similar groups around, like knitting groups, but they tend to either meet in pubs where it is too dark to cross stitch, or during the daytime on a weekday when i’m at work.  I really hope that there are some people out there who’d like to meet up with other cross stitchers around here.

The Awakening Update 25

Big changes in my life at the moment.  I’ve quit teaching and now hope to get my free time back – a life without time for stitching is no good at all!  So over the past few days i’ve managed to get the first page on the second row finished off.  It was a hard page with lots of colour changes, but the next page looks like it will be much quicker, with lots of big areas with just two or three colours.

The Awakening Update 24

Work over the last few months has meant I have had very little time for cross stitching, in fact i’ve probably only picked it up ten times during the last 3 months.  However I have managed to get some done and make a start on the second row of my HAED.  Here is my progress as of today and hopefully there will be a lot more to show you soon as it is now the Christmas holidays.

Woodland Enchantress Framed

Sorry I haven’t written for so long, I have literally only been able to pick up my cross stitch once since term started at the beginning of September, which is very sad.  I’ve just been so busy and tired I have little time for anything but work.  However it is half term now so I have a week to recover, and hopefully at least a little stitching time.

My Woodland Enchantress has finally been framed so I wanted to share with you what it looks like hung on the wall.  I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out and I think the colours of the frame work well.

The Awakening – first row finished!

I’ve finally finished the first row of pages of my HAED, The Awakening!  It’s now been a year since i started this project, so it’s nice that after a year i’ve completed the first row.  It’s very exciting to start the next row and start moving further down the design.  Here’s a picture for you:

The Awakening Update 21

As you can see i’m getting near to the end of this page on The Awakening, my Heaven and Earth Designs project.  I just have some more of that darker coloured tree to do, and a few odd spots here and there.  Then there’s just one more half (ish) page until the end of the row, which is very exciting!  Although the next page is all tree which means it’s probably going to take a long time as there are so many different colours in the trees.

I’m really glad i decided to start this cross stitch blog, it helps to motivate me and i really appreciate all the lovely comments.

The Awakening Update 20

Sorry it’s been so long since my last update, things have been very hectic, but i have finally finished my teacher training course (as of this Friday anyway) and so i should have lots more time to work on my stitching.  I have also managed to get my first teaching job and i start in September.

So, as far as the stitching goes, I’m working on the trees on the right hand side now and am almost all the way across the first row.  There is just one more part page after i finish this one.  Here’s a picture for you (sorry about the creases):

The Awakening Update 19

I’ve done quite a lot of cross stitching this weekend and made some progress on the tree branches at the top of page 4.  Most of this page is tree branches and sky, with the other half of the sphere as well.

The Awakening Page 3 Complete!

Page 3 of my HAED, The Awakening by Jonathan Earl Bowser is finally complete.  After lots of sky and lots of arch, and then way too much confetti stitching on the half of the second sphere which i did this weekend, that’s 3 pages done.  I’m really pleased with how it’s looking so far, and i’m excited about the next page because it has lots of tree on it which will make a nice change.  I also managed to spill some of my water on it just now, and was extremely glad that i don’t drink anything else!
